Let It Go

"Oh"

A puff of air escaped her lips, somewhat taking the shape of a monosyllabic word. Her eyes popped open, suddenly very alert. Getting off her lazy arse, she walked towards the wall, took a deep breath and peeped through the hole on the wall.

"Oh dear, not again!"

The number of walls that stood around her, protecting her, restricted her voice to flow freely. Cursing under her breath, she snapped her fingers and the walls vanished into the thin air. With an angry expression intact on her face, she stomped her way towards her friend.

Standing before her friend, who was laying dramatically on a sofa, she let out an audible huff. He didn't budge, not one bit.

"Dammit, B!" Her angry exclamation made him look at her, for she never sounded so angry, so annoyed with him. "What now?"

The brain stared at the heart, who was suffering with sudden agony and pain. Looking at the heart, he was hit by another wave of melancholy. The heart felt a beat skip when she saw the pure hurt and longing in his eyes. 'Oh, how he suffers!' The heart thought to herself.

"What is it, B?" Her voice grew gentler.

"It's happening again, but stronger this time." The brain said, his voice laced with sadness.

'That's why it hurts so much,' the heart muttered to herself.

"Did you filter them with good memories?"

The brain rolled his eyes, visibly irritated at such a stupid question. "Why do you think she is crying?"

"But she isn't." The heart retorted back with confusion.

The brain let out a sad smile, "Not her, silly."

'If not the human being, who?' She pondered and then the heart ached more as realization dawned heavily on her.

'Oh, he means the soul!' The heart mirrored his sorrowful smile.

The brain ushered the heart to come closer. For someone who has turned completely dark and cold, the heart put her walls aside for a moment and inched closer to her friend. The brain, charming as ever, extended his hand towards her. Blushing, she placed her hand in his. 'Good thing I am red,' she thought to herself and blushed harder.

The moment their fingers interlocked, she could see what the brain could and she understood why they were suffering so much. They saw their human being sitting on a sofa, with a photo album on her lap. The album was still closed.

"What is taking you so long to make the decision, B?" She asked, looking at him.

"Are you ready? Because she would need your help too. Don't go too hard on her, okay?" The brain gave her a soft smile, a smile that left an impression on her.

Returning a shy smile, the heart nodded. "I won't."

Once the decision was made, their favourite human being slowly opened the album. While the brain worked perfectly, the heart remained stoic and so did the human being. The brain looked at her and gave her a nudge, "C'mon, love. Let it go."

The last three words were all it took for the heart to completely shed off all her inhibitions.

And the moment she did, their human being was finally free to cry her heart out for the first time for the person she had lost.
