Beauty Within The Ugly

He scrolled angrily through the news on his tablet. Was it too much to ask for one good news for a change? He wondered. All he got from reading the news was that the world was rapidly moving towards doomsday. He sighed and stopped reading. He took a sip of his coffee and looked around the quaint coffee shop. He noticed a woman sitting at the far end of the café who wasn't there when he came in.

He abandoned his tablet, and sat back with a curious gleam in his eyes. You know how you stand still, stopping everything you were doing, and just admire the moon? How we could never help but get drawn towards the Moon's magnetism and beauty? That's what he did. He had to stop everything to look at her, to adore her beauty. Just like the moon, she had flaws but those flaws only made her interesting.

Made her human.

She looked up and caught him staring at her. He didn't look way, he couldn't. But she immediately averted her eyes. And, he knew, she had skeletons hidden in her closet. Even though she tried to stay concealed, to completely blend herself into the background, she found herself stealing glimpses of the man who unabashedly looked at her. Complimenting her through his eyes.

She was both impressed and disappointed when he backed away the moment he saw a band on her ring finger. 'A true gentleman,' she thought to herself before she saw him walk out of the café, possibly walking out of her life.

He left with a smile for he found a beauty within a world of doom.

Leaving her all alone to go back to her abusive husband. Leaving the moon to go back to her darkness.
